Welding Inspection Engineer – Fabrication
Position Overview
An opportunity for a Welding Inspection Engineer with experience in fabrication quality, welding inspection and quality control, to ensure welding and fabrication activities comply with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.
The role involves weld inspection, welding procedure review, material and equipment verification, documentation and nonconformity control, working closely with production, engineering and quality teams.
Role Purpose
The Welding Inspection Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and verifying welding and related fabrication activities, identifying quality deviations and ensuring that inspection requirements are properly documented and followed throughout the fabrication process.
Key Responsibilities
Welding & Fabrication Inspection
- Carry out daily inspection of welds and fabrication work.
- Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.
- Review and understand welding procedures.
- Monitor welding activities and identify defects or deviations.
- Verify materials and equipment used for welding and fabrication.
- Perform visual inspection and use basic measuring tools as required.
- Quality Control & Assurance
Identify and report nonconformities.
- Recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with production, engineering and quality teams to resolve quality issues.
- Support continuous improvement in welding quality and safety practices.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports and quality records.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to welding and fabrication inspection.
- Participate in quality audits and support compliance requirements.
Technical Coordination
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols and technical documentation.
- Work closely with on-site Production, Engineering and Quality teams.
- Communicate inspection findings and quality requirements effectively.
