Quality Control Job Description
Accountabilities:
- Conduct supplier validation audits with supplier support and advanced product quality planning (APQP).
- Lead the supplier approval process to ensure alignment with quality standards.
- Collaborate with customers to address quality requirements and ensure product compliance.
- Provide concise, complete, and accurate documentation of inspection results for both supplier and customer quality aspects.
Responsibilities:
Supplier Quality Assurance:
- Analyze manufacturing specifications to identify materials required for production.
- Source, evaluate, and collaborate with the best vendors to supply necessary materials.
- Visit supplier facilities to observe manufacturing environments and assess procedures.
- Perform regular quality control audits to ensure supplier compliance with company standards.
- Evaluate incoming supplies and products to identify defects and ensure adherence to quality requirements.
Customer Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with customers to define and implement quality standards for storage tanks and heat exchangers.
- Conduct tests and assessments on finished products to verify compliance with customer specifications.
- Address customer feedback and complaints, ensuring timely resolution of quality-related issues.
- Maintain detailed reports on product quality performance and provide improvement recommendations.
Process and Product Improvement:
- Provide technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates and improve processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance manufacturing processes, focusing on welding quality, material properties, and pressure testing.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed reports on supplier and customer quality metrics, including defect rates, compliance levels, and areas for improvement.
- Document inspection findings accurately and provide actionable recommendations for process enhancements.
Industry-Specific Focus:
- Ensure strict compliance with quality assurance standards in the fabrication of storage tanks and heat exchangers.
- Verify adherence to specifications for material grades, welding quality, and pressure-testing parameters.
Job Requirements:
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- In-depth knowledge of quality and business systems, including TS16949, ISO45001, and ISO14001.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, metrology, inspection methods, and engineering drawings.
Analytical Skills:
- Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
- Ability to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions promptly.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and liaison abilities to build and maintain supplier and customer relationships.
- Capability to plan, prioritize, and work effectively in a dynamic and diverse environment.
Specialized Knowledge for Fabrication Industry:
- Familiarity with fabrication-specific testing, such as non-destructive testing (NDT), welding inspections, and pressure testing.
- Knowledge of material properties and standards relevant to storage tanks and heat exchangers.
