Mechanical Tanks Projects  Job Responsibilities with Specilisation In  Tanks

  • Execute fabrication and erection of API 650 MS tanks in accordance with approved drawings and project requirements.
  • Review and interpret GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and applicable standards (IS 803/API 650).
  • Supervise site fabrication activities including shell erection (Hydraulic Jacks method), welding sequences, fit-up, and hydro testing.
  • Implement and monitor WPS, PQR, WPQ, and ensure all welding and inspection processes follow approved quality procedures.
  • Manage site workforce effectively, including contractors and labour teams, ensuring proper allocation of tasks and productivity.
  • Carry out stage inspections, coordinate with client inspectors, and maintain all inspection/test records.
  • Prepare and maintain site documentation, test protocols, inspection reports, DPR (Daily Progress Reports), and other project records.
  • Oversee billing activities, including measurement sheet preparation, contractor bill certification, and client verification protocols.
  • Coordinate closely with the customer and subcontractors regarding schedules, commitments, and progress milestones.
  • Ensure strict compliance with HSE norms, quality standards, and project-specific guidelines.
  • Advantage: Candidates with ASNT Level II (RT/UT/MT/PT) will be preferred.

Key Competence Required

  • Strong knowledge of API 650 / IS 803 tank construction standards.
  • Hands-on experience in hydraulic jacking method for tank shell erection.
  • Good understanding of welding processes, consumables, and QA/QC documentation.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and manage resources at site.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities with clients and subcontractor teams.
  • Proficiency in preparing DPR, inspection reports, and billing documentation.
  • ASNT Level II (RT/UT/MT/PT) – added advantage.
  • experience in site fabrication/erection of steel storage tanks (API 650 preferred).
